FOOD

🇪🇺🇵🇭WHAT‘S ON THE TABLE

Throwback, some of my home food prepping during the time my cousin Gie and her son was with us. During their Europe vacation.

That was linner, the first meal I prepared for my cousin Gie and her son. Oven trout, salad, Sarma ( stuffed cabbage), and knuckle of pork (Stelze) and because we are Filipinos rice is a must!

Here again brekky with boiled Frankfurter, toast bread, strawberry in sour cream, coffee and tea. The time my cousin Gie and her son took their vacation in Vienna. Of course my doggy Mary and Riyad also on the picture.

My spaghetti requested by Noah, Gie’s son (cousin). Bolognese is the sauce I made for them with grana padano cheese plus salad and sliced apples. Someone requested for coffee and tea too.

Food memories brekky a la Pinoy (Filipino) too heavy never again! Imagine; fried rice, longganisa, fried tuyo, scrambled eggs, sunny side egg, and for dipping vinegar with chili spicy of course plus tea and coffee Jesus Christ! What unhealthy life style never again!

🇦🇹HALLSTATT, AUSTRIA

The first time we visited Hallstatt, Austria I think sometime in May 2018 with my daughter and followed in June of the same year with a friend from Barcelona and his sister who‘s living in Vienna too. World heritage. From the skywalk, Charnel house, salt mine, romantic lakes- a paradise for culture and nature lovers like us.

Jen‘s, my niece first snow experience with Lizette, hubby’s colleagues daughter. Coming from a tropical country like these two girls how do they feel seeing snow for the first time?

This video down here says it all.⬇️🤣

The ancient salt mine village, with a unique culture, a breath-taking mountain setting and with a lot of nature the world heritage region. The skywalk, Charnel house (Osuary), saltmine and the romantic lakes said to be paradise for nature lovers.

🇪🇺AT WORK

Today it’s holiday, celebrating the assumption of the blessed virgin Mary.  But I’m on duty and take note with normal working hours, eight hours duty. But We had fun at work with my colleagues. Sima brought us today some fruits to share with. She came late at work for one hour and I was telling her up to now she ‘s allowed to come late at work as long as she will bring us something to eat just like today. 😀

Sima’s fruits brought at work today! – iCookiTravel

Fruits such as ripe mango, just like our very own Philippine Mangoes , “yung hinog ang tamis-tamis”! Sa akin yung buto na dalawang piraso, (not in picture). Nectarines, Melon or sugar Melon and Grapes. What a great time to spend breaktime at work with colleagues like her. I’m so fortunate indeed! By the way, Sima is from India, not Austrian but living here in vienna for more than a decade too.

From Internet: “Forget five a day, eat 10 portions of fruit and veg to cut risk of early death.” 😀

FEAST OF IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

Tuesday, it’s a holiday! A holiday date with my two kids celebrating the feast of immaculate conception, is a public holiday in Vienna but shops are open.

VEGAN and SAVORY Soup
VEGAN and SAVORY Soup

After church service we had our late lunch in chinese restaurant which is located at Naschmarkt. Vegan and sweet & sour the soup we had.

LUNCH
LUNCH

I love shrimps garlic from this restaurant, cooked fresh and not too much oil. Also the steamed halibut fish with spring onions. While my kids had chicken fillet with vegetables in sweet sour sauce. You could have lunch for two person with two different viand and rice including soup at resonable price for only 13 euros. A very recommendable restaurant at Naschmarkt.

CHRISTMAS MARKET
CHRISTMAS MARKET

After our late lunch we had a walked at christmas market infront of Vienna’s city hall which is so popular specially for the tourists and the Christmas illumination in the Rathauspark. Was a pleasant and enjoyable afternoon for us. Sometimes you need to step outside get some fresh air,…

BAKING AND DESSERT

BROWN BREAD FOR DIABETIC

Today is a public holiday in Austria!
Corpus Christi, is in Austria not only a feast of the Catholic church year, but also a public holiday. This is always celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. Linguistically oriented to the holiday of Corpus Christi on the Latin “corpus christi”, and was in the Middle High German language translated VRON (of the Lord) lîcham (abdomen). From this it is already deduced, which is celebrated at Corpus Christi: the bodily presence of Jesus Christ through the sacrament of the Eucharist, following the example of the Last Supper.

Baked Corn Brown Bread

A healty brown bread for dabetic like me. Today my daughter baked a corn brown bread for my merienda. As a snack with a little butter, or just by itself, but I bought this herring fish with garlic in a bottle from IKEA yesterday and I found out it goes with it perfectly. With a sliced red bell pepper and some small radish and a cup of coffee made my Thursday afternoon perfect on this holiday.

EASTER MONDAY GOOF OFF

Hubby has to work today although it is a calendar holiday in Austria, the Easter Monday!
So at home we got up too late, since it is holiday long sleep and breakfast and lunch in one is trendy today! 😛
and perhaps it is my first entry for the month of April here. 🙂
So busy for the last past weeks on duty always and every second week six days straight duty. 😦

EASTER MONDAY BRUNCH

Anyway, this was today’s brunch, as usual it could be early dinner too. Vienna time 3pm, my daughter made her fave pan cakes. Me with the leftover cold rice last night I fried added some green peas, sliced carrots, chopped chicken breast and three beaten eggs seasoned with salt. For viand also lefover chicken wings “adobo”.
This is how worth Holiday to us. “I have discovered the Holiday for me as an ideal working day. All around me there is wonderful peace and with the Laptop I can do some update here on my WEBLOG. With the laptop you can easily also from private balconies or gardens from the latest blog to check it out. Sleep in and a lot of time for the family is very important too. It’s not about a fixed individually resting phase, but specifically to the classic Sunday or Holiday rest! Sociologically, it is something special when a whole country comes for one day to rest. This is how perfect “Lazy” Holiday or Sunday for me. I define it as its “sleep in the morning, visit a holy mass in church, with the family extensively lunch, in the afternoon to do something nice together.

LAZY EASTER MONDAY

But today it is totally different, better to have long sleep and lounging!
As you could see above picture half an hour after having our brunch my puppies with my daughter…lol… 😛
That’s what I called “Command for Lounging”! 😛
Happy Easter Monday Folks! 🙂

ABOUT

PENTECOST (MONDAY)

Today is holiday in Austria, Christian holiday the Pentecost! a Christian liturgical year commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the remaining eleven Apostles of Christ. Pentecost is celebrated seven weeks, 50 days after Easter Sunday.

Among Christians, Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Twelve apostles and other followers of Jesus as described in the Acts of the Apostles 2:1-31.[2] For this reason, Pentecost is sometimes described as the “Birthday of the Church.” And the end of the season of Easter.

Hence, it is holiday everybody got up late except hubby who has begun his work early in the morning at 6 am.
The best time to sleep longer during holidays. My kids and I loves it most then we had brunch, breakfast and lunch in one:)

I just fried the left over rice from lunch yesterday with scrambled egg, green peas, carrots, garlic and spring onions then made a down-sized burger for viand. Of course with coffee and tea with milk for me, made our brunch special as that on this Pentecost Monday at home:-)

Ascension and Pentecost remind us that we are part of a continuing story that did not end with Christ’s resurrection, and by celebrating at home, we connect our lives, churches and stories with the narrative of the church. It is traditional in many churches to wear red on Pentecost. It is a feast day.

ABOUT

EASTER MONDAY

Bonding on Easter Monday with NOYTUBE BFF Dana together with our Kids:)
European countries celebrate Easter and Easter Monday as public holidays. In several countries in Europe Holy Week and the week after Easter is a student and school holidays. Since her 2 kids just came back from Germany after easter vacation we decided to have a half-day bike with our kids at Praterallee.

Really we all had great time together with our kids and the weather was so friendly. Everyone enjoyed biking.

Then we decided to have our late lunch-early dinner at T.G.I.F. (Thanks Gos It’s Friday)http://www.tgifridays.at/

This was my son’s dinner–Balsamic Glazed Chicken Caesar

Balsamic-marinated chicken breast fire-grilled and drizzled with balsamic glaze. Served with chopped romaine tossed in Caesar Vinaigrette with shaved Parmesan, crunchy croutons and fresh grape tomatoes.
— at T.G.I. Fridays.

…and Roni’s Cheese Burger

My Dinner<<< Jack Daniel’s® Ribs

A full rack of seasoned baby back pork ribs is slow-cooked in-house, then fire-grilled till fall-off-the-bone tender and basted in Jack Daniel’s® glaze. Served with crispy seasoned fries and ginger-lime slaw.
— at T.G.I. Fridays.

BFF Dana’s Chicken Quesadilla
They came with caramelized onions, peppers and cheese and are served with avocado ranch dressing and pico de gallo chile. The chesse is great!

Daniel’s tower also an art of chicken quesadillas with avocado ranch dressing.

My son tried also the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad

Warm and crispy pecan-crusted chicken served on a bed of chopped romaine lettuce and mixed greens tossed in Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing with dried cranberries, Mandarin oranges, sweetened pecans, celery and crumbled bleu cheese.
— at T.G.I. Fridays.

WE ENJOYED THE FRESH FLAVORS OF MEXICO
The Mexican kitchen is a celebration for the palate. The combination of briefly roasted meat, fresh vegetable and spicy sauces wrapped into thin flat bread or pita from wheat (Tortillas) or (Tacos) already began its triumphant advance years ago outside from Mexico. The kitchen chef continued to go still another piece and to interpret the classical prescriptions again. On the one hand with strong Bleu Cheese Dressing, so the English Touch on the other hand with Sriracha Sauce and fruits, to the south Asian kitchen ajar. Also the Southern State kitchen of the USA could do their influence with spicy BBQ or Southwestern Sauce and in south California Shrimps not to be missing. Said like a celebration for the palate. In addition fruit cocktails and Mexican beer.
