Foodie I served for my colleagues as a late celebration of my birthday at work. This has been a traditon for us if somebody celebrates her/his birthday should bring food for dinner. No excuses at all and everybody enjoying it.
So every January it is my turn, everybody loves my “Sotanghon Guisado” with shrimps. Grill and brown bread for those who love to have it with salad. Grill was Balkan art with chicken breast, pork belly, civapcici, plejskavica and sausage.
For salad I have cucumber and tomatoe salad with Aceto Balsamico di Modena for dressing and topped with kaymak chesse.
Dessert baked Cassava Cake, tried a new recipe. Something different from my own recipe before with eggs, not only condensed milk but also coconut milk. Recipe will be up next here.
So my birthday’s is done for this year, in which I’m always confronted with the question of what to eat, what to cook or to prepare. I’m sure my fellow serious eaters have found themselves in a similar position before. But I cook their favorites, engaging our shared loved of the food itself with the act of preparing it. But every year I try to live adventurously and try something new. For them the most important is “Sotanghon Guisado” with shrimps should always there! This year it is with grill. Happy Cooking and Guten Appetit!
Three of my dear colleagues decided to bring our dinner for today. The thing is each and everyone brought different dish that made everybody happy tummy! 😉
Annemarie brought her twenty pieces boiled eggs. We got sliced brown bread. Mama Rada brought pickled bell peppers spicy and none spicy, pickled cabbage, pickled green tomatoes, her baked proja with vegetables, cheese and yoghurt. And “KAYMAK” a cheese which I love most topped on mixed salad. KAYMAK- a creamy dairy product made from milk of water cows, sheep or goats. It has a high percentage of milk fat, typically about sixty percent. And has a thick, creamy consistency and a rich taste. It is the one in red tupper ware a white cheese! As you could see in the picture above. From these region: Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Turkey, Bulgaria, Herzegovina, Iraq, and Iran.
Ajvar from Mumo the red one in a glass. And Dragica bought sliced smoked meat and sausage from her sister back home. What a wonderful time having dinner together just like one family at work.
We spend most of our waking hours at work, so it is no surprise that our workplace nutrition habits have major impact on our health. It has been said that proper workplace nutrition can help us get ahead! Bringing home-cooked food at work is more healthier than indulging on unhealthy junk food. It is the same with choosing balanced snacks and diet. Like fat-free yogurt, fresh veggies, and driking bottled water instead of coca cola, juices, Zero-calorie drinks and energy drinks. That is the reason why we choose to bring our food at work for us to eat together as healthy as we can.
Here another Tuna cake from Zlatinka, (colleague) but this time she use wholegrain toast and she garnished it differently from the first one she brought us last time.
While this one our home-cooked dinner from mama Rada. Stuffed peppers with Soja, Proja, Sarma, Carrot Salad with Garlic and homemade Bread. PROJA is made out of corn flour with baking powder, mineral water, sunflower oil and salt. A type of bread originated from Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia and Slovenia.
What I love most here is the carrot salad with garlic and chilli. Super hot! Just like me (wink)…LOL
For dessert we got Vegan Muffins which she baked out of flour, cacao, sunflower oil, water, baking powder and I think beetroot without egg. And of course her famous cookies.
Above was brought to us both Kapan and Zlatinka. Kapan cooked her famous Sarma art from Turkish cuisine with grape leaves wrapped around a filling, green peppers, dill yoghurt and cucumber sauce with garlic too. While Zlatinka prepared Burek with ground meat and cheese, Proja, and Cabbage Salad. What a healthy and delish dinner we got!
This was our sweet or dessert baked by Zlatinka, a cacao-chocolate cake I think without egg also! In between she added a cream out of milk and a bit of white cocolate, was very good indeed!
Here is from Ivanka, a pumpkin burek. My first time to eat a pumpkin burek something salty. But she made two different kind one is this one and the other one was sweet with sugar of course. LOL… I love the salty one. Burek or Börek is a family of baked filled pastries made of a thin flaky dough known as phyllo or yufka, found in the cuisines of the former Ottoman Empire. There are wide variety of regional variations of Burek, pumpkin burek is one among them could be prepare either salty or sweet.
For dessert she baked a cake she cold it coconut cubes. I don’t know what the reason could be for this name but it is made out of cacao, flour and grated dried coconut without egg.
Eating alone is like masturbation! While afterward relaxed but not really satisfied. Maybe the reason is no social contact and you miss countless opportunities to make new contacts with colleagues or deepen old. Which you could make during lunch break or even merienda time. To learn the company better and know probably an important thing the more could help you in your job. Base on my experience at present job nothing could be better than eating together during break time.
Picture above our lunch brought by mama Rada and Kapan for the whole group. Thank you so much to both of you for these sumptuous foodie!
Here our relaxing moment enjoying our Frozen delight with colleagues. Break Time, ice cream time at work!
Up here was dinner Burek with potatoes, cabbage, scallions, Cheese and Bacons plus tomatoes & cucumbers for side dish. Brought to us by Dragica, thank you so much was so delish!
Tuna Cake by Zlatinka, so good that we all asked her for recipe but until now I have not tried it yet at home. Eating together at work with colleagues acting on efficiency and creativity, but is not always positive. If you want to work efficiently, a lunch is rather unfavorable. If it is a matter of finding creative solutions, can a meal be advisable. So take it away from me Folks!
Exercise is important for health. This finding is an all-natural principle. A person has to move has always been to live on, and his whole organism is dependent on physical activity to operate as smoothly as possible. Inadequate exercise leads to regression of physical structures and reduced performance of the various organ systems.
Gymnastic exercises and muscle building workouts are the best help for the musculoskeletal system . Muscles not only support the skeleton and joints , they shall by force transmission to the bone, only that movements are possible at all. They also include the myoglobin protein material which serves as an oxygen reservoir. This is what I do for at least once a week after or before work at Baxter Wellness with my colleagues.
Blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar. Good to know specially for those who are suffering from high blood preassure, with high cholesterol and diabetic like me. 😦
Aerobic exercise also lowers important risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The blood pressure drops , blood flow is improved, the cholesterol values are changing in favor of the healthier (HDL) – cholesterol, glucose metabolism is affected positively and thus facilitates weight reduction.
The importance of movement reveals itself alone in the fact that the increase in sedentary activities to more and more damage to the spine and the joints leads. Gymnastic exercises promote overall flexibility and extensibility and prevent postural spinal and joint damage. Both exercises and muscle training should be carried out strictly under the supervision of an experienced trainer or therapist. That’s what we have at Baxter Wellness.
The ideal exercise program for the promotion of health is certainly in a combination of endurance sports, gymnastics and weight training with a focus on endurance. Sports as medicine – an activity that is worthwhile. So take it away from me Folks! 😉
For birthdays, it is common in my company that the birthday child brings a meal plus cake or dessert. As a celebration with colleagues.
Since they love my Sotanghon with chicken breast and shrimps, I always cook it for them about two and half kilo Sotanghon for fifteen people. Some of them tried to cook it at home I just gave them my personal recipe but everybody saying that it turned out not as good as mine. They would love to have it at work from me. 😉
And not to forget the Lumping Shanghai and sometimes spring rolls. Most of the time they would ask me for spring rolls without ground meat. They also love my version pure vegetables in it. Like cabbage or pechay, carrots, mung bean sprouts (togue), potatoes, green beans and spring onions. I use to bring it alternately for option.
For cake this time my daughter baked a Guglehupf. It was her recipe for them to try.
We always have fun while eating and everybody are helping for setting the table everytime we have celebretion. Besides of celebration we also have our breakfast together whenever we have duty on Saturdays. Having fun and good time together while having our breakfast.
Last Saturday, not the day before last Sunday (March 15, 2014) an unusual breakfast was held at our home. Actually it is a brunch, because we got up late-Vienna Time – 14:17 (2:17 pm)!
Fried rice with grilled eggplant seasoned with sauteed shrimp paste, tomatoes, spring onions and chili flakes. Beside grilled eggplant with beaten egg for my daughter! If you are living in the vicinity of europe this kind of breakfast or brunch is unusual, only exist in the Philippines 😛
Sliced green bell pepper and apple plus sliced brown bread and beaten egg with bacon is my daughter’s fave for this week!
Cheese for breakfast, which first catches the eye. It is even more important, so that breakfast not only looks good, but also at least as good taste with mini tomatoes and brown bread.
This was breakfast I prepared for my colleagues at Baxter. And Jana, one of my fave colleague baked this poppyseed-apple cake. I tell you was so…good!
With all these variety cold-cuts which I brought, different kinds of pickeled olives, turkey cheese and gouda cheese, boiled eggs, semmel (the famous austrian ban), french roll (Baguett), sliced brown bread, plum jam, sliced bell peppers: red, green and yellow (which is not in the picture), and butter.
While this above was a breakfast treat by Gaby, also one of my colleague at work. Also a heavy one but so exciting just like what I’d prepared two weeks ago. It gives us and makes efficient work easily that day. We had fun during that break time before we continue the Saturday duty. 🙂
Yesterday’s breakfast for both of us, daughter and I. Oatmeal is high in fiber was a delicious breakfast choice. They said Oatmeal is very healthy and should be in every diet plan. Especially for building muscle, oatmeal offer many advantages, which you should definitely take advantage of. Oatmeal reduce Cholesterol value. To achieve this effect, it is necessary to eat oatmeal regularly. Simple and easy to prepare. I add a little bit of Natreen (a brand for a sweetener) instead of sugar and cooked with milk and given a little bit twist with cinnamon powder just the same with my coffee, adde before serving. Have a try so you know what I mean 😉
Man does not live by bread alone. After a while, he needs a drink. Food comes first, then morals.
Not that I cooks badly, but there are continually any pygmies in my kitchen and dip their arrows in the soup. In wine there is truth!
We should leave life like a banquet, neither thirsty nor drunken. Said-Aristoteles 🙂 <<< The seasoning is hunger, hunger is the best sauce. There are diseases that can be cured by proper nutrition, I believe in this! Every woman is susceptible to good food. The men love those women most passionate, who understand how to prefix them the most delicious things. I am one of those women 😉
These are collections of candid photos of our dinner with my colleagues at work- Baxter Austria. Of course with my famous Sotanghon with shrimps and chicken breast and Siopao! 😛
For our dessert, my baked Semolina Cake topped with coconut flakes and Robert (my colleague) prepared dumpling filled with rasberry!
Spaghetti with Soya-Pastasciutta topped with parmesan cheese, cooked by my dear colleague Jana (Sladjana), dinner for both of us with matching mix salad! Vielen dank my liebe Jana es ist sooo…lecker 3.16 🙂
