Okra is gaining a reputation as a superfood for people at the risk of diabetes just like me. Commonly referred to as ladyfingers, or by its biological names Abelmoschus esculentus and Hibiscus esculentus.
Boiled Okra with chopped giger, sliced tomatoes and red onion – iCookiTravel
Boiled Okra with chopped ginger, sliced tomatoe and red onions seasoned with fish sauce made my dinner complete and satisfied. As you could see I often eat okra. Because okra is a rich source of dietary fibre, believing that okra is known to be beneficial for health in a number of ways. The superior insoluble fibre contained in okra is believed to help stabilise blood glucose by slowing the rate at which sugar is absorbed from the intestinal tract. That’s sounds good for diabetes, isn’t it?
While in Turkey roasted okra seeds have been used as a traditional diabetes medicine for generations.
One among my all time favorit food way back home (Philippines) remembering my tatay and nanay 😦
Foodie I served for my colleagues as a late celebration of my birthday at work. This has been a traditon for us if somebody celebrates her/his birthday should bring food for dinner. No excuses at all and everybody enjoying it.

So my birthday’s is done for this year, in which I’m always confronted with the question of what to eat, what to cook or to prepare. I’m sure my fellow serious eaters have found themselves in a similar position before. But I cook their favorites, engaging our shared loved of the food itself with the act of preparing it. But every year I try to live adventurously and try something new. For them the most important is “Sotanghon Guisado” with shrimps should always there! This year it is with grill. Happy Cooking and Guten Appetit!
Here is a selection of my own personal ” favorite restaurants ” in Vienna. My family and I we often eat here when ever we had something to celebrate or just desire to eat. Price and portion for us is good.
The geographical position of Serbia and by the associated regional and national cultural exchanges, some dishes, cooking methods and ingredients have been acquired and integrated and adapted in their own kitchen, which developed mainly national versions or typical for the Balkan dishes. A traditional Serbian cuisine.
HOMOLJE GRILL RESTAURANT
It is a classic Balkan restaurant with a very good kitchen. For us speaking of service or ordering, we are satisfied. I discovered this restaurant through my colleague Jana, then I brought my family during my birthday celebration last January 3 of this year since we love grill and fresh salad. Specially their cucumber and tomato salad which is so fresh with kaymak cheese, with huge portions and good fries & grill . Side dishes you have all extra – order but price was characterized very good.
HOMOLJE GRILL Restaurant
Picture above was taken during the first time I visited this restaurant with my colleague Jana after our duty it was late lunch for both of us but we are both satisfied and that counts a lot. The thing is if you enjoyed the food and the athmospere for sure there will be a second time or even a third time and so on… Here I tried the so called “KARADORDE” or Karađorđeva šnicla. A Serbian breaded cutlet dish named after the Serbian Prince Karađorđe. It is a rolled veal or pork steak, stuffed with kajmak (Cream Cheese), and then breaded and fried. It is served with roasted potatoes and tartar sauce. With fresh salad, cucumber and tomatoe I love it! 🙂
Here in Saloon Donauplex during birthday celebration of our son last January 5, while me on January 3. Yes on the same month, mother and son. 🙂

Annemarie brought her twenty pieces boiled eggs. We got sliced brown bread. Mama Rada brought pickled bell peppers spicy and none spicy, pickled cabbage, pickled green tomatoes, her baked proja with vegetables, cheese and yoghurt. And “KAYMAK” a cheese which I love most topped on mixed salad. KAYMAK- a creamy dairy product made from milk of water cows, sheep or goats. It has a high percentage of milk fat, typically about sixty percent. And has a thick, creamy consistency and a rich taste. It is the one in red tupper ware a white cheese! As you could see in the picture above. From these region: Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, Turkey, Bulgaria, Herzegovina, Iraq, and Iran.
Ajvar from Mumo the red one in a glass. And Dragica bought sliced smoked meat and sausage from her sister back home. What a wonderful time having dinner together just like one family at work.
It is common for people to collect things from places they travel to. Fridge magnets seem to be a very popular one. It reminds me the places I had been. But not only magnets but also my mugs.
STARBUCKS MUG from Stanbul brought by my daughter – iCookiTravel
Sunday afternoon snack, apple strudel plus a Starbucks mug of coffee gave me a possitive vibes! My Starbucks mug brought to me by my daughter from Stanbul, Turkey early 2014. Beside from tea lover sometimes I drink coffee too with hubby, just like today I baked apple strudel for snack and my hubby prepared coffee for us. 🙂
This is my third collection among Starbucks mug. Many Starbucks fanatics out there are already familiar with the underground movement of collecting Starbucks Mugs. For sure there are thousands of people collecting these mugs all over the world and I am one among them. It has been mentioned there are different categories or series out there namely: City Mugs Series, Archetect Series and Global Series. So, which among of these you are collecting for? Happy Sunday everyone! 🙂
Hopefully you are enjoying your day Vienna, eventhough it is a rainy day outside. If you feel like spending the rainy days doing something productive, inside at home or office that better way to warm up. Like us here we are just having our brunch.
STARBUCKS MUG from Barcelona brought to me by my daughter – iCookiTravel
Brunch with hubby, egg-rice with garlic and tomatoe plus a mug of coffee. Happy rainy Thursday everyone!
Mug is from Starbucks as souvenir from Barcelona last October 2014. My fourth mug from Starbucks direct from Spain. The mug which will be featured on 9th Day was my third mug from starbucks. Having a starbucks mug at home and with our brunch, is not just like seating inside a starbucks branch with coffee task and service and a place to rest for a few minutes.
Another Starbucks mug which was brought to me by my daughter in December 2014 from Prague, Czech Republic. She and her best friend stayed for a weekend there and enjoyed the city for just two days. Travelled by car for about four hours excluding rest or break.
My STARBUCKS MUG from Prague – iCookiTravel
My second mug from Starbucks. The first Starbucks Branch in Czech was opened on January 22, 2008 in Malostranské náměstí. Their people claiming that not just passionate purveyors of coffee, but everything else that goes with a full and rewarding coffeehouse experience. They also offer a selection of premium Tazo teas, fine pastries and other delectable treats to please the taste buds. And the music you hear in store is chosen for its artistry and appeal. It’s not unusual to see people coming to Starbucks to chat, meet up or even work. It is a neighborhood gathering place, a part of the daily routine – and they couldn’t be happier about it. Get to know their branch and you’ll see: they are so much more than what they brew. I’ve been there for so many times, not only for a weekend as well just for shopping hours. One among neighbour country of Austria.
Sipping my Lavender Tea product of Sidroga. The tea treat for rest and relaxation.
Overloading, Pressure, Stress and Restless rushing you through the day. Finally, only in the evening is time to turn off everything. The pleasant taste is new to enjoy a special tea from real lavender flowers. Lavender as a tea or bath additive smells of relaxation and summer evening in Provence and is also known as the “blue gold South of France”. Its versatility makes it particularly valuable and popular.
This mug brought to me by hubby from Berlin. He got it from Rahmel-Verlag Souvenir shop. It is not the price of the mug wthat counts but the love and faithfulness in it. Knowing that I am a mug collector, remembering me and bringing home is priceless.
